I have decided that I really like making small quilts – either lap quilt or baby crib size. Just a small stack of fabric can produce a fun quilt in no time. I started on the quilt for Ryan’s daughter Fiona last week, and quickly realized that I had enough fabric to make two. Using the new block technique I learned in the Jelly Roll Quilt Along Block 3, here’s what I came up with.
My sister had given me a fat quarter bundle at Christmas, made up of Pink and Brown fabrics by Moda. I added some scraps from my stash, along with a fat quarter I picked up in Kingston a few weeks ago. I love how the browns and pinks all came together, which helped me pick the name “Chocolate Covered Cherries” for these two.
The quilt for Fiona has a little label in the corner. I have wrapped it up, tied it with a bow, and it is off to California.
The “extra” quilt will be the first thing for sale in my Etsy shop, as soon as it is up and running. I am hoping to be ready to debut it by the end of the month. Stay tuned!
Boy, I agree about making smaller quilts : ) Your quilts are darling! Best wishes on your new etsy shop…can’t wait to see it!
