Tiny Dresden Party

To quote my friend Denise, #aintnopartylikeatinydresdenparty! Join me on Instagram January 3-31 as we celebrate all Tiny Dresdens.  So, what qualifies as tiny you ask?  A Dresden of any style that measures 5 inches across or less is tiny in my book.

Post a photo of a project on Instagram using a Tiny Dresden from January 3-31 and use the #tinydresdenparty hashtag. Your account must be public so myself and the judges can see your make. That’s it!  Each time you post, you’ll be eligible to win some great prizes from our amazing lineup of sponsors who will choose their favorite project each week.

Sponsors Include:

  1. The same day that I saw this posted, I had an idea to make a full quilt of tiny dresdens! Not sure if it will come to fruition, but my plan was to only use the First Romance fabric from @prettybyhand on a white background; her tiny prints are perfect! Maybe I’ll start with a pillow first! 😉

  2. I think I may make some journal covers but I am definitely going to put one or maybe a few on my binder that I keep my magazine patterns in!

  3. A cute little zippered bag or a tiny wall decoration. If I make a few mini quilts with tiny dresdens, I could do a little clothesline hanging or bunting for my new baby in her nursery. So many ideas are popping in my head! This will be my first time making a dresden, so I am excited and looking forward to your ideas/tutorials.

  4. I’ve been wanting to make myself some grocery totes, now I’m thinking I’ll embellish them with tiny dresdens! I’ve been a bit dresden obsessed lately!

  5. If I can find a tiny enough template, I think I would like to make a mini wallhanging to display on my hutch that I am repurposing from Goodwill. I am painting it white and putting new drawer pulls and knobs on it. I would make 3 mini Dresden blocks and sew them together end to end to display either vertically or horizontally. I will use my 1930’s reproduction fabrics and maybe do a little hand quilting. And of course I love pin cushions.

    1. Oooh – the repurposed hutch sounds lovely. I’ll be sharing links to three different sizes of templates next week and the smallest finishes at 3.75 inches… so pretty tiny! And I love the 30s reproductions fabric idea – they would be perfect for tiny dresdens.

  6. I think I’ll make some pillows for my guest/sewing room. I just redecorated it with turquoise walls and red accents and an antique iron bed I painted red. Pillows would look awesome.

  7. I want to do a mini for my wall, a pinnie and a zipper pouch. Not sure which one I will do first. I have a bunch of tiny florals from a swap that I want to use on one and of course Bonnie and Camille for one. I also want to do something with my retro Xmas prints just haven’t decided yet. I’m hoping to join your party to get myself motivated. Thanks for inviting us!

  8. I’m going to try one of those cute Santa pincushions you’ve been tempting me with, I haven’t been lucky enough to grab one so maybe I’ll start on my 2018 Christmas sewing list. Thanks for the great inspiration.

  12. I like the idea of making a pin cushion but I already have so many! Maybe I’ll make a mug rug or some hoop art. Thanks for the tutorial!

    1. Yay! I am thinking about a little hoop art myself. And I realized today that I’ve never kept any of the pincushions I’ve made. So maybe I should make one for me!
