The Tiny Dresden Party is almost here! Just one week to go until the official start on January 3, but little dresdens are already popping up all over Instagram on the #tinydresdenparty hashtag.
First up, I’m sharing links to three different tiny dresden templates, each with a different sized dresden to get you started. Here are three I made this week using two of the templates. First up, is the tiny dresden pincushion by Amanda of Westward Acres. This is a free tutorial and the dresden has 12 blades and finishes at just over 3.5 inches across. (Top right in the photo above.) You do need to sign up for the Westward Acres newsletter to get the pattern and the link to do so is here.
Next, is a larger dresden, finishing at 5 inches across with 18 blades. This one is a free tutorial from Mary over at Sunny Day Supply. You can find the tutorial on her blog here.
You are also welcome to use the dresden pattern from my Mini Dresden Pinnie, which finishes at 4.5 inches across and has 18 blades (bottom one in the photo above.) I have also tried shrinking it down to 80% size and it comes out at just 3 inches across! (Top left in the photo above.) You can download my free tutorial here or it’s also available on Craftsy.
Now, looking for some ideas of what to put that Dresden on once it’s finished? There are a ton of great ideas on Pinterest and Instagram. I’ve rounded up some of my favorites for you here.
How about a mug rug? Heres a beauty by Angela of Fussy Cut using just half of a Dresden.
Mary over at Sunny Day Supply just made a lovely mug cozy and matching tea book as gifts for her sister, both featuring Tiny Dresdens. And of course, a pincushion is always a good idea. There are loads of adorable pincushions out there featuring Tiny Dresdens. Here is a cute one by Heidi of Fabric Mutt.
Or, how about a pouch or bag featuring Tiny Dresdens? Here are two cute examples both from Lauri Springer. And, I have seen so many other amazing ideas out there. I have a whole board I created over on Pinterest that you are welcome to check out. I can’t wait to see what you guys come up with. Thanks for stopping by! Feel free to leave me a comment with any questions or send me a DM on Instagram. Happy Sewing!
